Two new laws prohibit texting while driving and drivers from talking on a cell phone in work and school zones.
The Beecher Police Department would like to remind residents of two new traffic laws that prohibit texting while driving. The first law makes it illegal to use a cell phone, personal digital assistant (PDA) or portable computer to compose, send or read messages or access the Internet while driving. The second, prohibits cell phone use entirely within a school speed zone, construction zone or if the driver is under the age of 19 years. The Beecher Police Department will be looking for violators of these new provisions, and enforcing them accordingly. Remember, put down the phone in a zone! Please drive safely!
