GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS AND RELATIVELY LOW HUMIDITY THIS AFTERNOON... THE COMBINATION OF NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTS OF UP TO 30 TO 35 MPH...RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS FALLING TO 30 TO 40 PERCENT ACROSS THE TRI-STATE WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASE RISK OF RAPID SPREAD OF ANY FIRES THAT WERE TO IGNITE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE OF FINE FUELS...SUCH AS THOSE FOUND IN MARSHES AND GRASSY FIELDS. RESIDENTS SHOULD KEEP VEHICLES OUT OF GRASSY AREAS AND ENSURE PROPER DISPOSAL OF ANY SMOKING MATERIALS.
