Man Arrested For House Burglary
DATE/TIME:4-2-2010 9:05 pm
LOCATION: Old Farm Road
OFFICERS INVOLVED: Jeffrey Malone, Gregory Martone and Detective Patrick Martin
ACCUSED: Jose Antonio Ramirez Garcia, Age 38 of Ocean Twp.
NARRATIVE:
A resident of Old Farm Road called police to report a suspicious vehicle in a neighbor’s driveway. As Detective Patrick Martin and Officer Jeffrey Malone arrived in the area, the suspicious vehicle, a 2004 Ford Pick Up Truck, drove out of the driveway and attempted to leave the area.
The officers subsequently stopped the pick up truck and identified the driver as Jose Antonio Ramirez Garcia. Officers observed several items of glassware, china and furniture in the pick up truck.
Garcia initially told the officers that the owner of the home gave him permission to enter the home and remove the items. A subsequent check with the homeowner revealed that Garcia did not have permission to be at the house or remove any items. Garcia was subsequently taken into custody and transported to OTPD for further processing.
Further investigation revealed that Garcia had entered the home via an unlocked sliding door. Garcia was charged with Burglary and Theft. He was later released on a criminal summons.
His 2004 Ford Pick Up Truck was seized under the state criminal forfeiture guidelines. This is the second incident in the last two weeks where an observant resident has aided the Ocean Township Police in apprehending a house burglar.
On 3/17/10, a resident of Cold Indian Springs Road took the time to jot down a license plate of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in a neighbor’s driveway. That information led to the arrest of two subjects who were later charged with burglary and theft.
Once again, police are advising residents to ensure that their homes are secure when unoccupied and to immediately report any suspicious activity when it is observed.
