Benicia PD Locates Missing Person and Child

The Benicia Police Department confirms they have located 17 year old Heide Guy and her six week old daughter living with a former relatives spouse in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"With the assistance of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Heide and her six week old daughter have been contacted after we discovered she had returned to Las Vegas," Benicia Police Lt. Mike Daley said. "During our investigation, we determined that the baby was actually born in Las Vegas and Heide was living with this person before her recent return to California. The former relative has been cooperative in helping us locate Heide and the infant."

Benicia Police detectives worked with Child Protective Services in Alameda and Solano Counties, along with family members and friends who came forward, to locate Guy. Child Protective Services in Las Vegas will also be contacting Guy and the infant.

Las Vegas police assessed the location where Guy and the infant are at and assessed the condition of the child. The child was allowed to remain with Guy pending further investigation by Las Vegas and Alameda County Child Protective Service agencies.

"Our main concern was the safety of the child, and that has been addressed," Daley said. "Officer Mark Simonson, who took the initial report, School Resource Officer John McFadden, and Youth Services Detective Ted Criado did a great job coordinating this investigation and resolving this potentially harmful situation."

Guy actually called the Benicia Police Department early Tuesday morning after being told her story and picture had been broadcast on KTVU Channel 2 news. Initially she did not disclose her location, but later in the day began to cooperate with Benicia police officers.
