The Norwalk Sheriff's Station is recruiting and training people in the community to be ham radio operators for the departments emergency preparedness. There is a class for new ham radio operators this month, which is being put on by the Sheriff's Communication Center (SCC). Please contact Sgt. Doyle at the Norwalk Station at 562-466-5455.

The following is the official announcement:

SCC is offering an Amateur Radio General Class License course in April. The dates for the course will be as follows:

Two days of classroom instruction:
April 28th and 29th (Wednesday/Thursday) from 0800-1600 hours; You will need to take “on-line” practice exams between April 29th and the exam, on May 3rd.
A review session and the license exam will be held on May 3rd (Monday) from 0800-1400 hours.

Study material:
Each attendee is required to have the “Gordon West General Class License” handbook (see the attached photo). This book is available at all Amateur Radio stores. It is currently in stock at “Ham Radio Outlet” located on Euclid in Anaheim.

(You may check to see if anyone at your Station has this book and will lend it to you for the duration of the course).

Plan to have the book before April 15th, to begin the “Home Study” portion of the course.
If you would like to attend this course, please let me know as soon as possible (This course fills up fast). Additional information, including the home study instructions, will be sent out on April 15th.
