String of Motor Vehicle Burglaries hits Richmond

Starting at 5:00 AM this morning, 05/29/09, the Richmond Police Department has responded to several calls of Burglaries of Motor Vehicles, all on the same street. As residents of the 1700 to 1800 block of Cypress, in Richmond, were getting ready to leave for work this morning they noticed that several of their vehicles had been broken into during the night. Police have responded to seven BMV calls so far. It appears that most of the vehicles were left unlocked while parked. So far it has been determined that items ranging from wallets to a purse to a radio front plate were taken from the vehicles. This is a reminder to always lock your vehicles even if they are in your driveway. Also, never keep items of value in your vehicle where they are visible to others.
