Vehicle vs. Bicyclist Hit and Run
On July 24, 2009 at 1239 P.M. Florence Police and Western Lane Ambulance responded to 36th and Hwy 101 for a reported Hit and Run accident involving a bicyclist and a pick-up. A 14 year old male juvenile was riding his bicycle in the bicycle lane northbound on Hwy 101 when he was struck by a full size black pickup making a right turn into a driveway. The young man was knocked off of his bike and to the ground scraping his hand on the pavement. His bike was damaged to the point it could no longer be ridden.
The driver of the pick-up continued through the parking lot and left the area with out providing aid or information. The black full size pick-up was last seen by the victim going North on Hwy 101, from 36th Street. The victim could give little detail on the suspect vehicle only describing it as a full size black pick-up. The Florence Police are seeking the public’s help if anyone witnessed the collision. They are being asked to contact the Florence Police Dept. at 997-3515 with any information to help identify the vehicle and/or driver in regard to this incident.
