Armed Robbery Attempts

On Wednesday morning, 3-17-10, an unknown suspect or suspects tried to rob two different Amarillo motels. The first happened about 2:00am at the Sleep Inn 2401 IH-40 east.
The desk clerk was on the phone when a male subject tried to come in the lobby doors. The clerk keeps the inside lobby doors locked and the subject could not come in. The subject was wearing a black mask and carrying a pistol in his hand.
When he could not get in, he left with nothing. A security guard at a nearby motel saw this subject outside that hotel just before this incident and watched him walk to the Sleep Inn. He tried to call them and warn them but the phone was busy.
At about 4:15 AM, a person matching the same description walked into the Travel Lodge at 2035 Paramount. The clerk was behind the desk and saw a male subject walk in wearing a black mask and carrying a pistol.
The clerk ran to the back and locked himself in the office. The subject again got nothing and no one was injured in either incident.
No arrest or injury in either event.
There is no vehicle description in either incident.
