APD warrant roundup concluded with over 4000 warants served with a total face value of 1.2 million.

The City of Amarillo Municipal Court and the Amarillo Police Department have concluded the 2010 warrant roundup. The roundup started in February with thousands of postcards getting mailed to individuals that have outstanding local Class C misdemeanor warrants. The recipients as well as other people with outstanding warrants had the next two weeks to contact Municipal Court and take care of their obligation.
The week of March 8th thru March 12th, APD assigned members of the COPPS unit to actively go in search of people who had not taken care of their warrants. Numerous people were contacted and some were arrested and booked into jail for their unpaid traffic fines.
Overall, 4244 warrants were served during this 3 week time frame with a total face value (arrest, paid, cleared, credits, etc...) of $1,207,505.30.
We would remind everyone that just because the round up is over, that doesn’t mean we will stop looking for people named in warrants. APD officers will continue to check on wanted persons on a daily basis and we will continue to arrest those named in warrants. To see if you have outstanding city warrants go to the APD’s website @ amarillopolice.org. The warrant list is updated daily.
