There will be U.S. Census and Bureau of Labor survey taking place during the weeks of March 14th and April 18th. This will be in addition to the 2010 Census, which will be sent out in mid-March. Interviews will be conducted by telephone, mail and door-to-door surveys. Relevant questions can include employment status, hours worked, earnings, age, sex, race, marital status, educational attainment, occupation and industry. Those conducting the interviews are required to have official U.S. Census Bureau identification on display, which will include a badge and photo ID, a hand-held tracking device, a Census Bureau canvas bag and a confidentiality notice.

Occasionally, criminals will pose as Census takers in an attempt to solicit information used in identity fraud. Included are internet scams, phone scams and personal contact. You are not required to allow a Census taker into your home. At no time will you be asked to provide your Social Security Number, DOB, credit card and banking accounty numbers or PIN codes. If you are asked these questions or if you suspect fraud, terminate your interview and contact the Police Department immediately.
