DETAILS: The Amarillo Police Department, in conjunction with the City of Amarillo Municipal Court, will be participating in the Texas State Warrant Roundup. Beginning today, 2-22-2010, people with outstanding Amarillo Municipal Court warrants will be receiving warrant notice postcards in the mail. The cards are to remind people that they have the next two weeks to contact the court and arrange to clear up the warrants. A copy of the notification post card is provided with this release.
Beginning on March 8th, the Amarillo Police Department will have police officers specifically assigned to serving Municipal Court warrants. They will be visiting the wanted persons’ homes and places of employment to arrest those that have failed to contact the court about the warrants.
Victoria Medley, Court Administrator, said that there are 35,887 warrants outstanding.
The Municipal Court will be open Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM. On Thursdays, the court remains open until 7PM.
The public can view a complete list of all warrants on the Amarillo Police Dept. web site, amarillopolice.org. Click on that link or call the court at 378-6280 for more information.

There is still well over 30,000 warrants to be served. The total face value of all warrants cleared is nearly $400,000 ($399,543.10). Starting Monday 3-8-10, APD officers will start knocking on residents doors and going to employers in an attempt to locate wanted individuals.
