MVA Update

At approximately 10:00 AM members of the Darien Police Accident Investigation Unit met with an 89 year old Stamford man regarding his role in a hit and run accident that occurred on Hoyt St. in Darien on February, 27, 2010.

The elderly man, represented by his attorney, Mark Sherman, gave a statement indicating that he was operating the “silver Toyota Camry” that struck the pedestrian.

The man also explained that he was unaware that the collision had taken place until Sunday evening when he read a newspaper article describing his vehicle and the location that the collision took place.

Investigating officers impounded the man’s vehicle and determined that vehicle damage was consistent with colliding with the 15 year old boy.

The man faces the charge of Evading Responsibility 14-224(a) and an arrest warrant application is being sent to the Stamford Superior Court on Tuesday March 2, 2010.

The family of the 15 year old was notified and he is reportedly resting comfortably at home.
