Washington Emergency Services response to the current weather/utility emergency on-going, but scaled back overnight.
For the past 4 days we have been having some substantial weather here. Check the snowfall page of the web site for on-going updates to the total snowfall. We had very high winds yesterday that resulted in about 75% of town losing electricity at some point. In total the State had around 350,000 customers in the dark and the Governor has declared a state of emergency.
Here in Washington we do what we have always done, and responded to it efficiently and promptly under the direction of Emergency Manager Ed Thayer. Last we heard LAE had been plugged back in and it's slowly coming on in other areas.
Our Emergency Operations Center was staffed at 11:00 and will be until 9 tonight, then again tomorrow. The shelter is not active, but stocked and ready to open if someone needs to be housed.
Anyone needing assistance should call 911 for emergencies. Local services and information can be found through our Dispatch Center at 603-495-3233. They will contact the appropriate responder or agency to assist you. Updates will be sent by text and e-mail via the Nixle system, so I urge those not subscribed to this free service to do so promptly at nixle.com and register with the Washington Police Department.
