(Paulding County, GA) Business leaders from throughout Paulding County participated in training exercises with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office as part of their Leadership Paulding class on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The focus of the class for that day was on Government and Homeland Security.

The members of the class received one-on-one training from deputies of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, K-9 Division and Paulding County Sheriff Gary
Gulledge. Sheriff Gulledge met with the class to discuss the challenges and opportunities in public safety facing our county. The members also received classroom training to better understand the Criminal Justice System and the duties of the first responders within the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

The hands-on training consisted of K-9 apprehensions, rappelling and firearms training. The members of the class were able to watch demonstrations and even participate in the activities.

Leadership Paulding is a community-based organization committed to identifying, educating and training a diverse mix of community leaders to meet today’s challenges with tomorrow’s solutions.

“One of our goals is to identify and select emerging and existing leaders throughout the county,” said Paulding County Chamber of Commerce Vice President Shelbia Bohannon. “We also educate and inform emerging and existing leaders regarding major community issues and enhance the development of their skills and abilities through training.” Other goals included in Leadership Paulding are to inspire and/or provide opportunities for the exercise of leadership for community benefit; and to establish and maintain relationships among emerging and existing leaders.
