On 5-10-09 at about 2140 hours, deputies responded to 11 W. Los Angeles Avenue, in Moorpark, in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, deputies found that Reynaldo Munoz had multiple stab wounds to his head, face and torso. Munoz also sustained a fracture to his right forearm and various other injuries. The suspects fled the crime scene prior to deputies’ arrival. Munoz was transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment.

During investigation, it was learned that Munoz was involved in an argument with several rival “VSV” (Varrio Simi Valley) gang members. There was a video surveillance recording of the crime. From the surveillance video, witness reports, and other evidence obtained during the investigation, law enforcement officials were able to identify seven “VSV” gang members as participants in the beating and stabbing of Munoz.

Robert Anthony Lara (9-22-93) and Israel Rudy Esparza (4-15-87) are two of the seven suspects who actually participated in the beating and stabbing of Munoz. Both Robert Anthony Lara and Israel Rudy Esparza are also documented “VSV” gang members.
