Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to the 2000 block of Durfee Avenue, in the city of South El Monte regarding a death investigation surrounding an individual attempting to stop a shoplifter. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 12:18 p.m.
The victim pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
