The North Hudson Sewerage Authority (NHSA) project to repair and upgrade the combined sewer infrastructure at the intersection of Henderson Street and Observer Highway requires necessary road work that will close a section of Observer Highway on Monday, Jan. 20.
During working hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Jan. 20, Observer Highway will be closed in both directions between Madison and Henderson Streets. Please note, the existing 24/7 closure of Newark Street westbound between Adams and Jefferson Streets, and eastbound Newark between Madison and Jefferson Streets, will remain in place during the emergency closure of Observer Highway on Monday.
Detour and variable messaging signs will be in place. Hoboken Police officers will be on the site to assist with traffic control and pedestrian safety. One lane will remain available for oversized trucks and emergency vehicles, if necessary.
This essential work is part of the ongoing NHSA project in southwest Hoboken which will upgrade underground infrastructure to improve sewer capacity, efficiency, and system reliability in the area, which will also help mitigate flooding after significant rainfall events.
