Recent reports of explosion/rumbles Lake Rd/Pennbrook Rd areas--are minor earthquake in area of Far Hills. See email

Residents have reported several incidents to police in Far Hills. Calls came to the police on Friday Feb 5th around midnight to 1am. Reports included loud explosion sounds and rumbles---two incidents within 30 minutes.
Again that same morning approx 0550 am another rumble with noise and some shaking to homes.
Sunday Feb 7th at 925pm and 928pm two more tremors were reported to Far Hills Police in the same areas.
Lake Road/Pennbrook Road and Hidden Valley Road.

The USGS, Rutgers, and Columbia University have looked at activity in our area and it was determined that a small earthquake showed 1.4 on the scale Friday the 5th. The Universities are looking at the other incidents and times which were also believed to be earthquakes.
No damage was reported, and areas around the Ramapo Fault line have minor activity like this which is normal.
Residents are asked to report activity if they feel the tremors to the Far Hills Police so that we may pass it along to the proper monitoring stations for review.

At this point there is no cause for alarm. If anyone has a question contact Chief Hartman Far Hills Police.
